12 lead ECG
12-Lead Electrocardiogram (ECG)
What is a 12-Lead ECG?
A 12-lead ECG is a quick, painless test that records the heart’s electrical activity. It helps detect heart rhythm problems, heart attacks, and other heart conditions.
Why is it Done?
A doctor may order an ECG to:
• Check for an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia)
• Assess chest pain or suspected heart attack
• Monitor heart conditions or the effects of medications
What to Expect
• You will lie down, and small sticky pads (electrodes) will be placed on your chest, arms, and legs.
• Wires connect the electrodes to the ECG machine, which records your heart’s electrical signals.
• The test takes just 5 minutes and is completely painless.
Is it Safe?
Yes, an ECG is a safe, non-invasive test with no risks.
